Interesting tidbits: Apollo was the only mare on record to conceive as a yearling.  She gave birth the next year to a tiny, healthy filly.  She is also one of the few mares that did not respond well to PZP contraception; in spite of annual treatments for life following the birth of her first foal, she produced three more foals.
