Horseshoe Crab Tagging
The Horseshoe Crab is a genius at survival! Their many adaptations have become how valuable this living fossil is to the global ecosystem, humans too, and how Horseshoe crabs are tagged and why. AIA is offering Volunteer Horseshoe Crab tagging sessions throughout the spring and summer; you can get more information and sign up to help at the program.

How can YOU help Horseshoe Crabs?
Tag with us! Horseshoe crabs come to the shoreline at high tide during the full and new moon cycles during late spring and early summer to breed. That's our chance to gain information about the status of their population. AIA partners with the US Fish and Wildlife Service Horseshoe Crab Cooperative Tagging Program which provides data on distribution, movement, longevity, and mortality of horseshoe crabs.
