N2BHS-CKW "Peytona Star" was the first foal born in 2024, and the fifth foal born to N2BHS- CK "Johnny Star". He was first spotted on April 4, 2024. The probable sire is N9BFQ-GL "Mr Frisky Hooves"
He was named by Albert Walker of Frankford, DE through a Name That Foal fundraising auction as a gift to himself for his 70th birthday. Albert chose the name after a horse owned by his two times great grandfather, Thomas Kirkman, one of the key figures of thoroughbred racing in the United States. One of his most famous horses was "Peytona". She won several important races, including a famous north vs south race held on Long Island in 1845. It is said that over 100,000 people attended the event. This race was made even more famous after being captured in a Currier and Ives print, a copy of which is in the collection of the Smithsonian Museum. Albert then says, "the “Star” part of the name ties back to Johnny’s Star and April Star, the foal's dam and grand dam. It also recognizes that this is a tribute to my mother as she has been in heaven for 20 years. She first mentioned the horses of Assateague to me and coincidently (or not?) my mother's initials were "CKW" - just like the last 3 letters of Peytona Star's Keiper number. I’m sure Charlotte is smiling at Peytona Star running free in Assateague."
