Born: 1981
Died: Unknown

Sire: M8 “Ted”, bay pinto
Dam: A bay N9 mare, see notes below

Sex: Mare
Color: Bay with a high white stocking on the left hind, socks on the other legs.

Longest time spent with one band: 4 years with N6EIM “Connie”

Descendants:
T5AFP “AR Arianna”
T5AFQ
T5AFS “Andre”

Usual range: Year-round from Pope Island north to the Valentines marshes and dunes.

Interesting tidbits: Genetic testing showed that Taffy’s dam was actually from the N9 line, not the T5 line, and was not the mare that had been known as T5A since the late 80s. Taffy’s genetically proven sister T5AG “Aggie” was by the same N9 mare as Taffy. The other T5A foals born since 1990 (T5AP “Tato’s Girl”, T5AQ “Little Harry”, T5AR “Tara”) are genetically proven to be the offspring of T5A, and are not Taffy’s and Aggie’s brothers and sisters. The confusion between the two bay mares (“T5A” and the N9 mare) occurred during the mid-80s when for a few years the herd was not as closely monitored.
